Supported exempt accommodation is a category of supported housing where residents receive more than minimal care, support or supervision from the landlord or a body acting on their behalf. It is funded through Housing Benefit at a higher rate to reflect the additional support provided.

Who can make a referral to Wisdom Housing CIC?

We accept referrals from social workers, probation officers, NHS mental health teams, hospital discharge teams, local authority housing officers, prison resettlement teams, charities and other professional services across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

How quickly can someone be placed?

Once a referral is received and assessed, placements can typically be arranged within 24 to 72 hours subject to suitability and availability. Emergency referrals are prioritised.

Do residents pay rent themselves?

No. Rent and support charges are covered through Housing Benefit at the exempt accommodation rate. Residents are not expected to fund the accommodation themselves.

What kind of support do you provide?

We provide individual support planning, signposting to mental health and substance misuse services, life-skills development, tenancy sustainment, benefits and ID support, and partnership working with statutory and voluntary agencies.

Wisdom Housing CIC is registered with Companies House as a Community Interest Company and operates in line with Birmingham City Council's exempt accommodation standards, the National Statement of Expectations for Supported Housing, and all relevant safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection legislation.
